I got up around 5a to go to the bathroom and for some reason could not go back to sleep. So since I knew that the sunrise was around 5:45a, I decided to go check it out. Walked to the canyon, found a place on the rim with no one near me and watched the sunrise. It was neat to see the canyon fill with sunlight.
Though I still like sunsets to sunrises. With sunrises you enjoy the colors before the sun comes up but have to always be aware that there will be a time when the sun goes up, you can not look at the sun anymore. But during a sunset, once the sun has reached the horizon at a certain point, you can watch and enjoy the sun set all the way down.
I then took an hour walk (round trip) down part way down the canyon. Then came back to the hotel room and slept some more. The DD and I checked out of the hotel, ate and walked along one of the rim trails.
At around 3:30p, it was time to head back on the train. Enjoyed more time standing on the open air platform watching the tracks and the scenery go by and disappear in the distance. DD and I have met some international visitors while in the parlor car. One couple from Australia on the way up to the Canyon yesterday. And today we met another couple from the south part of Saskatchewan, Canada and also two female friends from England.
We arrived at the Williams train station sometime after 6p. Checked back into the Railway Hotel, ate at the prepaid buffet that came with our package deal and headed to the hotel room sleep. We were tired.
