Farrell’s

It was that time again. Time for Bonnie, DD and I to eat lunch at Souplantation, one of my favorite places to eat. Then went to Bonnie’s to play her some of my new film music pieces.

Then DD and I went to a place that I have not been to since the 90’s. Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour. I use to go to the one in Cerritos Mall for my B-Day every year when I was little and a bunch of times in between. It even went with the Madrigals after a Madrigal BBQ. But sometime after that, it closed as well as other ones in the area. The San Francisco investment group bought them from Marriott and changed from a unique celebration restaurant to a traditional family style restaurant. (What a stupid idea. Oh ya, let us make a unique restaurant into a typical family style restaurant because there are hardly any of those around.) And of course they ruined the great idea and almost all of the locations closed. Somehow Parlour Enterprises bought them from the Marriott and started opening them again. And there is always a line out the door.

The History of Farrell’s

DD and I when to the one in Brea. We were hungry and did not want to spoil our ice cream consumption so we each got a salad. I then ordered the Mt. Saint Helen Ice cream. It is 6 scoops of ice cream and a lava flow of streaming hot fudge covers vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream plus hot caramel. Run for cover.

DD had a little of it but I had most of it. It was so yummy. So for successfully eating all of it, I received a ribbon and had to stand up in the middle of the restaurant and try to yodel. Unfortunately since my throat was coated with ice cream I cracked which made all the people in the restaurant laugh. (Remember I do not get embarrassed anymore.) It was such a fun time there. DD even bought me a t-shirt.

Here is to Farrell’s opening up locations and keeping the tradition alive.
