3 2 1 Launch

Today DD and I went to the Kennedy Space Center.   Took a bus ride through the space center with the bus driver pointing out the launch pads and assembly building.   Saw the actual equipment used in the control of the Apollo missions.

Saw the service module of Apollo 14. Pretty cool. “Hey Bean!”

Also saw the Saturn V rocket what was going to be used for canceled Apollo 18 mission.

Talked to Richard Koralewicz. He was there to answer anyone’s questions. He also worked for Grumman during the Apollo missions stating with Apollo 8. He was on the pad doing final checks for the fuel, GSC and Pyro.

Met, took a picture and had him autograph a picture of himself. That was cool.

We walked toward the Space Shuttle and walked under the booster rockets.

We then went inside and saw the Space Shuttle Atlantis. What an awesome spaceship.

We then went on an a pretty accurate rocket launch simulator.

Went to the hotel and woke up at 12:30a. That is right. So we can see a rocket launch. It is a commercial launch to put a satellite onto orbit to be used for direct TV in Asia. It was delayed but finally launched at 4a. It brilliantly lit up the sky. The sound of the rocket was heard about a minute later. A few minutes later we could smell it.
