Christmas Dinner

Today was Christmas dinner.  Our family has done Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve since before I was born.  This dinner had AD, JK, Oryn, Mom, DD, DD’s friend Bill and I.

The Christmas dinner begins with the Opłatek (a Christmas Wafer) which is pronounced “Oh-pwah-tek.”  The sacred white wafer, a semi-transparent wafer of unleavened dough stamped with scenes of the nativity, are shared with each person present. During the exchange, good wishes are expressed.  Then we start eating.  This time I shared a piece of the Opłatek and gave each person a person wish for the new year.

Lots of good food like ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, yams, stuffing and rolls.  Nice conversations.  Then dessert was apple pie, peach, pumpkin pie (finally) and sweet potato pie (which is really good).
